Make A Choice To Do Something That You Enjoy Every Day

I was talking to a few colleagues yesterday about the importance of doing what we are passionate about. I am one of the rare people in the world who loves her job. I also love writing, yoga, painting, and spending time with my family. I make a conscious decision each day to do at least one thing that I love. Too often our days consist of obligations, stressful jobs, and menial tasks such as cleaning the toilet or doing the dishes. I encourage people in my practice and in my personal life to make a choice each day to spend at least 30 minutes doing what they enjoy. This doesn’t mean that we have to have extravagant events planned each day. It simply means that we will feel more positive if do more small things that we enjoy throughout the day. For some people, they enjoy talking to friends. Maybe they could make a daily 10 minute phone call to a positive friend. For others, they enjoy the feeling of accomplishment from organizing a closet. Others may enjoy things like reading a magazine, taking a walk, or doing a craft with a child. Many people initially tell me that I am unrealistic when I suggest that they take 30 minutes each day to doing things they enjoy. However, I remind them that although some days are very busy, there is often time to watch television and eat mindlessly. We can make a choice to do more things that we love every day. We can make a choice to live our lives more passionately and mindfully. The reward is that we will feel more happy and positive every day. I encourage you to try doing more things you enjoy and I would love to hear if it has helped you. It certainly has helped me.
